Lazio & Rome
Anchored by the Eternal City, Lazio pairs Rome's monuments with gardens, lakes and Roman ruins.
Lazio is dominated by Rome, and rightly so — few cities on earth hold so much history in so small a space, from the Colosseum and Forum to the Vatican and the Baroque fountains and piazzas that fill the centre.
But the region rewards those who venture out: Tivoli, with the Renaissance gardens of Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa; Ostia Antica, Rome's remarkably preserved ancient port; and the Castelli Romani, hill towns south of the city known for white wine and Sunday lunches.
